While we’ve lost our last two away games at Ebbsfleet, conceding seven goals in the process as we suffered our two heaviest defeats in this fixture, we’re enjoying our best run of home games against them.
We’ve won the last four times United have come here, and last season we matched our biggest home win against them. Chris Holroyd, Stuart Beavon and Rekeil Pyke all scored in the first 20 minutes, and Shaun Pearson got a fourth to round off a remarkable first half.
Ebbsfleet pulled one back shortly after the restart, but the 4-1 scoreline matched what we achieved in March 2013, and again, we hit four goals in the first half. This time we were three goals to the good after half an hour as Dele Adebola, Brett Ormerod and Kevin Thornton hit the net. Rob Ogleby scored the fourth in the last minute of the half, and Ebbsfleet’s consolation goal came far too late to give them hope.
Last season’s win was played out in front of the biggest crowd to watch this fixture, as 4,718 turned up to watch us maintain our unbeaten home record against Ebbsfleet.
Shaun Pearson had a remarkably busy time of it against United last season. He scored in the home victory, and then hit the net for both sides in the return fixture! Today will be a significant day for him too, as he makes his 375th career league appearance
Luke Summerfield also brings up a significant milestone as he plays in his 450th career match, while Jazzi Barnum-Bobb makes his hundredth appearance.
