The 85th Anniversary of the Gresford Mining Disaster

Today is the 85th Anniversary of the Gresford Mining Disaster, a catastrophe tied inextricably to the modern history of the town of Wrexham, and in which Wrexham AFC unwittingly played a tragic hand, as miners swapped shifts to be able to watch the derby with Tranmere the following day and found themselves caught up in the horror.

A beautiful ceremony at the Gresford Disaster Memorial took place this morning, with the football club represented by Brian Flynn, to commemorate the anniversary. Here is the podcast produced two years ago which explained what happened on that terrible night, and its indelible link to football and our club.
