We suffered a dispiriting beating at Ebbsfleet last season. When we went there, our promotion push was unravelling spectacularly after the departure of Dean Keates, while the home side were putting together an excellent run of form as they tried to make a late run into the play-offs. We held out until half time, but once we went behind thinks deteriorated swiftly, and we ended up suffering a 3-0 defeat, our worst result in this fixture.
That result ended an impressive run of seven unbeaten matches in this fixture, including a three-game unbeaten away sequence.
By way of contrast to last season’s disaster at Stonebridge Road , our best result against Ebbsfleet was an emphatic away win In March 2012, Andy Morrell’s side enjoyed an emphatic 5-0 victory with the player-manager grabbing two goals himself to add to strikes from Mathias Pogba, Steven Leslie and Jake Speight.
Our other win at Ebbsfleet came in October 2009, when Lamine Sakho’s goal just before the break was the difference between the two sides. United’s second half fightback was fatally damaged when they had two players sent off, the last time our opponents have been reduced to nine men by the referee in an away game.
Overall, we’ve beaten Ebbsfleet six times and lost three with three draws. Our best home win against them was a 4-1 victory
Jefferson Louis is our top scorer in this fixture with three goals, one ahead of Chris Holroyd, Morrell and Speight.
