Wrexham AFC Seek To Break Through at Gateshead

Since we dropped into the National League, our record against Gateshead has been incredibly even. In fact, until we beat them at The Racecourse last November it was symmetrical, as we’d won 4, drawn 2 and lost 3 of our home games to them, and they had an identical home record against us!

We haven’t lost at Gateshead since September 2015, when we were defeated 2-1 despite a rather fluky Sean Newton goal. Our last two trips to the north east ended in draws, so for our last win there you have to go back to September 2013, when second half goals from Brett Ormerod, Steve Tomassen and Andy Bishop secured a 3-0 victory.

We have enjoyed success at Gateshead since then, though. On our way to the 2015 FA Trophy Final we triumphed over The Heed on penalties, after Wes York and Connor Jennings had earned a 2-2 draw.
Mark Carrington makes his 225th Wrexham appearance today.
