If we win today we’ll have won four consecutive matches for the first time since August 2015, and we have a perfect home record against Bromley, although we’ll also lack our secret weapon against them, as we can no longer call upon the services of Ntumba Massanka!
Massanka’s scoring record against Bromley is remarkable, with four goals in two substitute appearances. That record is made all the more incredible when you consider it in the context of his overall statistics for Wrexham. He scored at a rate of a goal every 27 minutes against Bromley for us, but at a rate of one goal every 12 games against everyone else!
We’ve managed a couple of goals past Bromley every time they’ve visited The Racecourse. In February 2016 they fell to a 2-0 loss thanks to goals from Lee Fowler and Connor Jennings. The following season Shaun Harrad gave us the lead but Bromley equalised and we had to wait until ten minutes from the end before a clean strike by substitute Gerry McDonagh earned the win.
Last season Massanka struck twice in the second half to clinch a 2-0 win after we’d laboured in the first half.
Mark Carrington makes his 200th Wrexham appearance, becoming the 58th player to reach that landmark for the club. Since Dropping into the National League, only three other players have played their 200th game for us: Andy Morrell, Jay Harris and Neil Ashton.
Last Saturday Luke Summerfield managed three assists against Eastleigh, the first Wrexham player to achieve a creative hat trick since Wes York in January 2015 against Stockport County.
We go into today’s match top of the table. Although we topped the league a couple of times last season, each time we only remained there for one match. This is the first time we’ve hit the top and stayed there for more than a week since March 2013.
