It always takes a brave man to walk away from something you love and Andy Morrell is that man.
Andy had left the club earlier this morning is going to be missed by all who are involved with the club. His decision to leave is probably for the best as he was loosing support from fans, Andy has always been spoken highly around Wrexham until the past few months as fans have become more and more unsettled due to the club being in poor form lately. He can still leave the club with his head held high because of his incredible time at the club especially in his playing days and also last season was a massive highlight in Andy’s career as he took the club to their first ever appearance at Wembley and winning the FA Trophy and also appeared there again a few months later but the outcome wasn’t the same but overall it was a great season for Andy and Wrexham.
This season Andy had pressure as fans and board expected an even better season by getting promotion but it hasn’t all gone to plan and the team haven’t been up to scratch or as good as they were last season and Andy has taken all the criticism, also it hasn’t been the best few months, especially loosing two home games in a row and this may have pushed Morrell into his decision.
Overall Andy has been a great club figure and will be truly missed by everyone and I hope we can all remember Andy for the good times we have shared, as there are many good memories and we should thank him for everything he has done.
Personally I would like to thank Andy for last season, for making it possible to see my local team play in the biggest stadium in the country and win there. It was one of the best experiences of my life and this wouldn’t of happened if it wasn’t for Andy, unfortunately I wasn’t around for Andy’s first spell but I’m sure he gave everyone that was fortunate to see him seasons not to forget just like last season was for me, again I would like to say my thanks to him and wish him all the luck for the future.
